Just a short post this evening... or morning as it is.
Had a good day today, taking off late this morning for Pueblo and a meet up with one of my brothers for lunch. Larry and I had a good time eating Mexican food and then talking for a couple more hours after that. I told him what I had been up to and then he told me what he had been doing these past few months. As far as excitement and practical use is concerned, I think he would of won if we had been keeping score. Which we weren't. (But he still won!).
So this summer he has spent 56 days so far, out fighting various forest fires around the country. Included with that batch were fires near Crested Butte, Glenwood Springs and the Royal Gorge in Colorado, as well as other fires in Wyoming, California and Oregon. In Oregon he actually had to raft 3 days down the Rouge River to an old lodge along the river where he and his crew helped prepare for setting back fires if the real fire got to close.... it did... and then he had to raft another 3 days on the river to get back out again. You have to admire someone who not only got to go on a river trip that many people pay a whole lot of money to go on, but he did it for free, and even got paid to do it. Always thought my brother was pretty smart, even if he actually hates being around water and boats.
Had planned on going on up to Fort Collins to the contra dance there, this evening. But after all of the driving this afternoon I just decided to call it a day and actually relax a little bit. Took Rhodie for a good walk, fed the cats and then settled in to watch some cheesy TV, including one of the Harry Potter movies. Time for bed now though, have been up way to long for one day. Will try to get some more pictures posted tomorrow. But we'll see.
