Slept in late this morning and it was wonderful. Actually pretty easy since the temperature outside had to be close to freezing this morning. There was very little incentive to get up and move around until it started to warm up a bit.

Really never got all that warm today.... maybe 60-65 degrees tops. Still a nice clear, calm day though so the shorts stayed on as did the boat shoes. It's my birthday today... 56 if anyone is curious. Still seems odd to celebrate such an odd day in our lives, but social convention says we must... so I did. Took myself out to a dinner of Chinese food late this afternoon. Maybe my 2nd or 3rd favorite type of food after Mexican and one that I don't get to eat very often. Pretty good stuff and I'm still a bit full from it.

Didn't really do much of anything today otherwise. Finally got some grocery shopping done, so there is now more in the place than crackers and peanut butter. Still a few more things to get, but now I can at least make up a decent breakfast again.

Finished sorting through another day of Grand Canyon river trip pictures, sorted out some more stuff in the trailer and watched a couple episodes of the 'Big Bang Theory' from the 2nd season. Brought along all of the seasons so far to watch again when I need a laugh. Otherwise it was a quiet day for me and that was just what I needed for a change. In the meantime here are a few photo's from the 3rd day on our river trip.

Morning of the 3rd day and it is time to pack up and be on our way.

Still to early to be up and about, but since everyone else is....

It is really pretty that early in the morning.

Getting ready for our first hike of the day. This one will take us up to Native American granaries that are up under some cliffs.

Already posted this picture once, but it is still one of my favorite ones from this trip.

A few of the group taking a short break before continuing on up the trail. It was a very long, steep path to climb.

A look at one bunch of granaries.

They aren't very large, but then they didn't need to be. Built to store a groups extra corn and beans. They were built in hard to reach places to protect them from other groups of people who would steal it, as well as protection for next years seed from their own hungry people.

Lot's and lot's of rock.

It rained pretty hard down river from us, but we only got a minute or two of sprinkles. It cooled things off for a little bit, but then it just got humid.
It gave the land a real ethereal feel to it as the fog and rain rolled in.

Ginny, Jodie and Deb with Walker in the background.

Alex and Walker. Alex was in training to learn how to run a boat on his own. He did pretty well overall.

More rain in the distance.

Sunset on some of the cliffs around camp.

Meals on the trip were always amazing. Not sure what we had for this nights main course but desert was sure good.

The last rays of the sun.
