Woke up to grey, rainy skies this morning and watched all day as one rain cell after another danced across the grass outside of the trailer. Had wanted to spend the day over at the Shelburn Museum wandering around the outside exhibits and looking in all the buildings. Will have to put that off for another time now. Will try to pack up and take off for Maine tomorrow if at all possible. Will have to wait and see on that one.

Not a total loss of a day of course, for one thing.... I'm retired, it's not like there is much that I 'have' to do any more. So I spent the day cleaning up the inside of the trailer and trying to find places for all the stuff I seem to be acquiring. Also spent some time on the computer, reading the comics, checking out the news, etc.

Spent a bit of time doing another days worth of pictures from the Grand Canyon trip. Only 3 more days to go before they are finally all done. Of course I'm a few days late on what I am posting here but most of that is because of how long it takes to upload a batch of them. Today was doubly frustrating as I had finally gotten today's batch loaded after almost two hours when I hit the wrong button and erased them all. Boy do I hate when I do something stupid like that.

Otherwise it has been a pretty nice day. Watched a few episodes of Big Bang Theory and drank nearly endless cups of hot tea. Seemed like a perfect day for doing those kinds of things. Hope it is a nicer day tomorrow anyway. I can stay cooped up only so long.

Here we have photo's from our 5th day on the river.

Morning again and the sun is starting to light up parts of the canyon.

Breakfast is over and it's time to pack up the boats and get on the river before it gets to hot.

We stopped downriver a few miles after starting and walked up this nice canyon with a little stream flowing down the bottom.

At the end of our short hike was this beautiful little pool with a nice waterfall.

Already hot enough out that everyone spent a lot of time wading and playing in the water.

My good friends Maggie and Paul.

Jodie preferred the whole experience of the pounding water on the back and neck. Also a good way to wash all the grit out of your hair.

Michael also liked the rinse cycle. Of course he doesn't have as much hair to rinse out as some do.

Ben and Bill discussing the problems of the world and how to fix them all.

Caught Jillian tucked back in this little niche taking a quick cat nap. She denied she was sleeping any, just resting her eyes. But she was certainly doing a good job of faking sleep if that was the case. Given how hard she and the other 3 guides worked I'm amazed they weren't always asleep.

I look at this photo and immediately think about old zombie movies for some reason. ahhh.... I want to eat your brains! Run Fino and Jan... run!

We all had sleeping cots every night and I found them to be really comfortable. Better than most cots in fact since this design didn't use a bar across each end like most cots do. It also made moving your sleeping site closer to the river easier if you wanted.

Our intrepid leaders: (L to R) Alex, Ben, Walker and Jillian. A better group could not be found.

Beautiful scenery every where you look.

Spud practising his Shakespeare... or throwing horse shoes, take your pick.

Pre-dinner cocktails and conversation.

One of the last views of the day.
