Ran errands for most of the day today. High on the list was doing laundry so I would have enough clothes for my trip to St Croix. Also had to go find a new pair of beach shoes and a new watch. My last watch was still working okay, though the night light had finally gone out. The bigger problem though was that the Velcro watch band was really starting to fray and no long stuck together very well. So it was time for another cheap watch, $18, that does more and is water tight to a deeper level than the old $250 Seiko's I use to buy.
A couple other things on the list were new bottles of aspirin and ibuprofen for any aches and pains I may develop while dancing next week down on St Croix. Also had to find new bottles of sunscreen, lotion and toothpaste. All under 3 oz. of course.
Got back to the trailer around 4:00 and started packing stuff up. Will have one checked bag as well as one carry on. Could probably do it all with a single carry on, but I want to be able to check a big bottle of shampoo as well as all my snorkeling stuff. Even with two bags though, it shouldn't be to hard to schlep everything around by myself.
Just hanging out at the moment. Watched a past NOVA episode a while ago about the whole space shuttle program and the two shuttles that blew up. It was very interesting to watch the experiment they came up with to determine if a piece of foam really could be the reason the second shuttle exploded. After building a mock up of the shuttle wing they 'shot' a 2 pound piece of foam at it at speeds even less than the shuttle would of been going. Imagine their surprise when it put this huge hole right through the edge of the wing into the interior. It was even more interesting to hear how problems like this could of happened in the first place while there were people, (engineers), telling the managers that they should be looking at this stuff closer. Very sobering.
Time for a few more chapters I think and then on to bed.
