Went into Gainsville this afternoon and took in their usual Sunday afternoon contra dance. Quite a good turnout considering it was Superbowl Sunday and all. Plenty of nice people to dance with and good calling and music. It's nice these days to know a lot of people there by name now. Always fun to see and dance with so may good people.

Went and ran some quick errands afterwards. Turns out that grocery shopping is pretty easy when most people are sitting at home in front of a TV watching the game. Never really got into watching football on TV. Don't get me wrong now, there are times when it's a hoot to sit back with some friends and a beer or two and root on some team or other. But most of the time it feels better to be out actually experiencing life rather than trying to live it vicariously through some one who doesn't even know, or care, that I'm actually alive.

Totally dark by the time I headed back to the trailer so it wasn't much of a surprise to see a full grown possum standing smack dab in the middle of the lane while I came at him doing a steady 65 mph...... So I ran over him!..... The operative word there is 'OVER' as I managed to straddle him this time with the truck. Lucky for him it has a very high ground clearance, unlike a lot of the newer cars out there. He also didn't try to run out between the wheels like some of them do, or worse, jump straight up into the under carriage like several have done to me before. Who knows, this one may of just rolled over there in the middle of the highway in a dead faint. But at least this time there wasn't the 'thump-thump' sound of me squishing him.

Finished up some financial stuff this evening and have some letters and checks to mail to future dance weekend events ready to go out. It's great that so many of the dance weekend events these days have a way to register on line now. For the one's that don't it means having to dig the big-ol-printer out from behind the couch and set it up. Get it all booted up and synced with the computer and then hope that the ink cartridge you put in last time you did this hasn't dried up into a $40 piece of junk. Tonight was a good night in that respect. Of course it wasn't until all that stuff was once again bundled up and put away that I remembered wanting to make some photo-copies of my passport for this week. Oh well... will try to find a copy machine while I'm out and about tomorrow.

For those of you that have thought about going on the road your selves you need to think about things like paying bills and getting mail and such. I've managed to figure out ways to either do it or work around those difficulties. But there is a bit of effort and thought that has gone into it all. I guess all I'm saying is that it sometimes takes more effort and work than you would think.
