Another beautiful day here in Florida. Warm temperatures, a nice breeze and lower humidity than usual. Of course that is due to change tonight when a cold front will pass through, but that just means the possibility of a few rain showers late tonight and then only mid 70's for a temp tomorrow.
I hung around the RV park until mid afternoon today and then headed south toward Ocala. An early dinner - late lunch at a fast food joint and then some shopping at Target. I was looking for a new portable hard drive and an extension cord for my iPod ear pods. I'm happy to say that I found both at pretty reasonable prices. The HD is actually 4 terabytes in size and cost less than a 500 gigabyte one did a couple of years ago. Since that is the one I am replacing, I finally ran out of room for all of my music, this one should last for a few years at least.
I had a ticket for the Ocala Theater for this evening. They were playing 'Blood Brothers', a play I have never seen, and they had plenty of tickets left when I checked yesterday. One of the few nice things about being alone is that there is almost always at least 1 ticket left somewhere that they will be happy to sell you. In this case there were quite a few single seats available all over the place so I picked one out that was 3 rows back from the orchestra pit and right in the center of the theater.
I knew nothing about the play before going in but here is a short synopsis of the plot. First know that it is a musical and is not all that old of a play, ten years or less I would imagine. It is also from Great Briton so all of the actors had to make a good go at a British accent, something that they pulled off pretty well over all.
In a nutshell the plot is such; a young, poor women is about to give birth to her 8th and 9th child, twins, and the father has taken off for another women. Just making a go of it as it is, she agrees to give up one of the boys to the women who's house she cleans, since she doesn't seem to be able to have children. One of the boys is taken in by this richer women to be raised as her own, as the other one goes home with the actual mother, with the story that the other child died at child birth. Of course the boys meet at the age of 7 and become good friends, blood brothers in fact, though neither one knew the other was his actual real brother.
The rest of the play is taken up with the boys growing up through their teen years, with one rich and one poor, and what it means to each one of them. The two boy leads did a pretty good job of playing their parts from the age of 7 through the age of 20+. Not an easy thing to do.
So a pretty good play over all. The music was live and all the main actors had pretty decent voices, including all of the younger actors playing teens. I good, though sad plot. I would certainly see this play again in another venue. It was also nice to find another nice, small regional theater to go to once in a while. They do 8 plays per year and it would be nice to see some of the others. But alas; they are either already done, or they don't have any other one for at least another month.... so next year.
