Ran errands off and on for most of the day. Spent some time over at the nearby REI store trying to find another carbon fiber bent shaft canoe paddle to buy. Have been meaning to get another one for several months now just so I would have a good spare. But it may be that I am already too late as the store was all out of everything except for some nice wooden ones. The boat guy there also said that they wouldn't be getting any more in either as, you know, summer is already nearly over. I'll continue to check around at all the other REI stores in the area though and see if there are any other available at any of them. Other wise I may just have to be content with the wooden ones I already have.
Dropped off a lot of the boat trip equipment this afternoon over at my paddling partners house. She has a garage with some extra room in it so we can spread it all out and see what else we still need to come up with. We also spent some time figuring out the rest of our food shopping list so that we can go do a store run later next week. We will be responsible for two and a third dinners on the trip as well as our own breakfasts and lunch's, so there will be some real shopping going on in a couple of days.
Went over to the Denver contra dance this evening for a little while. Was surprised at how many people were there for it. A full three lines of dancers, so somewhere around 125 and 150 people. A good percentage of them were brand new of course, but really, most of them did really quite well. That is one of the great things about contra dancing, most people can get by easily with just a little help the first couple of times, and after about three nights of dancing, you pretty much have it whipped. Of course there are always new things that can be thrown at you, and it is fun to do a session of hard or challenging contras at one of the weekend workshops, but mostly it is just good, hot, sweaty fun. Emphasis on the fun!
