Kind of missed my post for yesterday.... just too much going on.... too much fun. Not all of the day was fun of course, had to spend several hours this morning in Longmont replacing the last roof vent on the trailer. Had to actually remove the whole unit in this case since there was no replacement for the lid to be found at any RV place in this area. In order to replace it you first have to dig through all the silicone caulking that was applied just to get down to where the mounting screw heads are, then remove all of them, approx. 30-35, before trying to pull the unit off of the roof membrane and all of the icky-sticky waterproofing stuff that it was set into. All of this, of course, while you are kneeling on top of the roof next to your truck that is reading 108 on its temperature sensor. But it is done now and I certainly hope I won't have to do any more of them for a good long while.
Once done with the trailer there was actually time to come back to my friends house, take a good shower and then a really nice hour long nap. After that it was time to go and meet a couple other friends for this weeks 'Boys Night Out' movie. Today's choice was 'Abe Lincoln, Vampire Slayer'. Now you have to believe that I went into this movie with pretty low expectations, so it was a pleasant surprise to find out that it was actually a lot better than one would imagine. Don't get me wrong, there are no 'Oscars' on the horizon for this movie, but the story line was interesting, it was filmed and acted well and I liked how they interwove actual events into the storyline. All in all it was a solid 3 out of 5.
After the movie it was over to Red Robin for our usual meal and drinks all served up by Emily. It is kind of nice having someone show up with your first round of drinks before you have even gotten comfortable, and then to continue refilling or replacing them before you are done with the one you are drinking from. Plenty of good conversation with the guys of course, generally over most of our usual subjects. So boats, and boat trips, future and past, other travel, wives, girlfriends or others, news and a little bit of politics. Just a real pleasant evening.
Today is the 4th of July and Tom and Donna always do a big afternoon party for a bunch of people in the afternoon and evening. Spent the morning helping set up and get all the toys out to the lake. But they are actually real organized at these kinds of things so there isn't all that much to do. Looking forward to seeing a bunch of old friends again and getting a chance to talk to them a little bit. Hope to do a little sailing and maybe some paddling also. Or maybe it will just be a good day to sit under a tree watch the lake and drink magarita's'
