Yesterday was a very long... long.... long day. Starting off at 7:00 in the morning, after going to bed at 1:00, it was up for a shower and a quick bite before heading out the door. On the road to St Augustine by 8:00, I was off to have lunch with a friend from Colorado who was down to see her son and daughter-in-law. As it turns out it was a easy drive over to the coast from here. Indeed there are a few reasons to be out and about in the early morning. I saw bunches of sand hill cranes out in the fields and what was really cool... seeing a bald eagle sitting right by the side of the road trying to stare down this buzzard over a piece of road kill. I think it might of been a dead raccoon. When I rounded the corner the eagle took off and flew down the road right in front of the truck and right at the height of the windshield for several hundred yards. Really cool.

Also saw 3 separate flocks of wild turkeys out looking for food in the fields, and then saw another two flocks later in the afternoon. It is obvious that wild turkeys have made a good comeback everywhere in the country.

Made it to St Augustine in plenty of time to meet up for lunch at noon. Indeed Steph and her kids were just a little late because of the parking problems there in the city. We met up in the old plaza however and then walked across the street to A1A brew pub for some lunch.

Her son Bobby and his wife, oh damn, I just spaced out her name, were very nice and quiet cute as a couple as they have only been married for a couple of months. Good to see Stephanie again also. It's always fun to hang out with her and it was nice to get a bit of an update on things back in Colorado. I had fish tacos again, of course, and a nice glass of brown ale.

I had a little time after lunch so I got to play tour director for a little bit showing them the Flagler Hotel and walking down one of the old St Augustine streets. Will most likely post a few more photo's from the day at some time. Need to go get the camera out of the truck first, and right now it is really cold out there.

I left St Augustine at 2:30, and because I had nothing better to do, ended up driving over to Tampa for the contra dance last night. Actually made it in time even with the rush hour traffic going through the Orlando area. A good dance over all, but I admit that after 2 hours of dancing I was pretty much done. The 2 hour drive back to the trailer was actually a nice end to the day. Now after a few hours of sleep I'm back up and running again. Was hoping for a nice day to take a good bike ride, but it's really cold out there. It is suppose to get up into the low 50's, but the wind chill will keep it feeling like it is down in the low 40's. Tonight, a hard freeze is forecast with wind chills in the teens. I may have to stay in today and work on hobbies or read some more. One good thing is that I didn't head any farther north earlier in the week.
