Saw the greatest t-shirt this evening.... "I came, I danced, I Concord"..... it was on the back of a women dancing at the Monday night contra dance in the 'Scout House', just off the main square in downtown Concord Mass.
The Scout House is an old, 1700's era, post and beam building that they use for dances of all kinds. But on most Mondays and Thursday during the year they do contra dances there. About 50 people attended the dance this evening. Not a huge turnout, but enough to make a decent dance. The music was wonderful with a 4 piece band performing. A piano player, fiddler, mandolin player and an upright bass player. The calling was more than adequate and the dancers were for the most part pretty good. Could of been a few more women as it was one of those rare evenings where there were a few more men than women. Managed to dance most of the dances during the evening, but I had to sit out a couple of times during the evening. It is the one bad thing about being the unknown guy at a dance. Several women did make a point of coming over and asking me to dance though, so it wasn't too bad over all.
Otherwise there hasn't been a lot going on today. Went and did a couple of loads of laundry this afternoon, and then spent some time reading and putzing around the trailer. Hope to make it into downtown Boston tomorrow. Need to figure out how and where to meet the train into the city, as I certainly don't want to drive in if I can help it. Looking forward to seeing some more historical things there and exploring a bit more of our American history.
