Was up early this morning in anticipation of needing to be on the road at a decent hour in order to make it down to the maritime museum in Bath before noon. Grabbed some breakfast, scrolled through email and facebook and decided it would be a good idea to double check times and the address of the museum one more time before leaving. Glad I did as it turns out that I almost went down there on the wrong day. It would of been fine to go today if the only thing I wanted to do was wander through the museum, but the cruise out past the light houses and the boat yard only goes on Wednesday and Friday during the week, ie tomorrow. Not sure how I added a whole day onto my life, but it might be that my brains have been rusting a bit from all this rain.

It was still a beautiful morning out, bright and sunny and the temp actually made it into the 70's this afternoon. To nice of a day not to do something. Ended up climbing in the truck and heading down the east side of Penobscot Bay checking out the little towns and harbors along that side. Ended up in the village of Castine looking for the light house in the photo's below. Really a quaint little village with lots of old New England homes and what appears to be Maine's Maritime Academy.

The light house is out on a cliff on the northwest side of town and is now privately owned, though the Coast Guard still maintains the light as an Aid To Navigation. The Coast Guard maintains a trail you can access that will take you down one side of the property so you do have an opportunity to take some pictures that way. I ran into two older people out in the back yard who said hi to me when I walked past. They said to feel free to wander around and take as many photo's as I wanted too and I half joked about them being the owners of the place.... which is exactly what they turned out to be. So I took them up on their offer and took a bunch of photo's that I would not of normally gotten otherwise. I am so glad that the weather turned off nice for a change. Was getting a bit tired of taking light house pictures in the rain.

Stopped in the village of Bucksport on the way back and walked along their waterfront for a couple of miles. On my way back to the trailer this afternoon I stopped at a 'lobster pound' along the highway and bought a couple more lobsters for this evening's dinner. Interestingly, soft shell were going for $4.25/lb while hard shell were only $4.00/lb. Not sure why that was since it is usually the other way around, but I have found that it usually pays to buy the hard shell one's if they are a dollar or less more than the soft shelled ones. They don't have as much water in them and they also just taste a little better!

Cooked them both up this evening and ate the larger of the two for dinner. Had thought that I would be tired of eating lobster by now.... but not even close yet. Kept the tail and claws off the other one and plan to make a lobster roll sandwich once I buy some celery. Yum!

Just been hanging out this evening otherwise. Making up some new play lists for my iPod and reading a book as well as a few magazines I'm trying to finish up and get rid of. Need to go to bed now though. It is going to feel even earlier tomorrow morning because of being up so early this morning.
