Just a short note this evening cuz it's already two in the morning and I'm starting to fade fast.

Drove down to Tampa Bay this afternoon and on too the contra dance at Pinellas Park this evening. A really fine local band with guitar, fiddle, mandolin and bass for the music and a caller from somewhere in south Florida. I've heard him call before and he did a fine job except for one dance where he could of explained one move a bit better. It was a situation where one move of the dance merged into the next one in what should of been a nice flowing motion. The problem was that you could dance it about 6 different ways based on the directions he gave.... so of course that is what happened through out the length of the dance. Other wise he did very well.

Good group of people there also, considering it is so close to Christmas now. I was a bit worried there for a bit having shown up at the dance hall about 20 mins before the dance. When I walked in there were already 17 guys there, but only 3 women. It was looking pretty bleak there for a while, but by the time the dance actually started there was almost an equal number of men and women there and it stayed fairly well balanced the whole night. So.... not a great dance, but well worth the trip down there and back even if it does take a little more than 2 hours each way. Sure glad I have the iPod to crank some good tunes out on.
